It's always nice to see what our customers make with the timber they buy from us.
Below are examples of what's achievable with a little imagination.
Farmhouse refurbishment in the Peak District
Sweet Chestnut floorboards, the tree was felled and milled by us. The client dried the timber in their own kiln before having them machined into floorboards and laid.
Same house showing the stair trends in London Plane and risers in Sweet Chestnut
The treads were made from London Plane and the risers in Sweet Chestnut to tie in with the floorboards
In total we supplied enough planks of Sweet Chestnut to make floorboards to cover 300 sq/m
Handmade pens in English Walnut and English Yew
Our pen blanks for turnng go far and wide across the UK, this and the next photo are of a pen made from English Walnut.
The Walnut came from a tree that fell in storms during the winter of 2017 on a farm in Oxton village near Southwell, Nottinghamshire
This blank is unusual as it was cut across the grain so what you see is end grain.
Handmade floorboards in English Oak for a Georgian town house on the Isle of Wight
Although the boards were secured via secret screwed, the client had requested the boards to give the appearance of age so nail holes were punched into the surface and then stained black to give the impression of traditional nailed boards
The client had specified they wanted random width boards in random lengths which on the face of it seems a simple request but in reality meant that sufficient boads of each width had to be made so as not to run out halfway down a run
The board edges and ends were planed and sanded too give a look of age, the boards were also stained including the tongues before laying, this meant if the boards shrink there won't be any sign of new wood showing.
Once down the boards were hand sanded in places and then polished with several coats of a hard wearing floor wax to give the appearance of age.
