Forest 2 Furniture - a brief history

Forest 2 Furniture has evolved over the years since it's conception in 2004, at that time I made furniture using the timber I milled from storm damaged trees grown in and around Sherwood Forest.

Then as word got round I started to be offered more trees than

I could personally use and the idea of offering well kept and seasoned timber to other makers was born.

My aim was to produce and sell timber of the quality that

I had always wished I could buy, as cabinet maker myself I knew exactly what others were looking for.

It's the wish of every maker to have their own supply of timber and for this reason the on-site milling service also grew, the ability to have someone turn up to your premises mill up trees into planks that in time you could then use was a new concept in the UK wood industry and one that quickly caught on.

18yrs after launching my on-site tree milling service I'm bringing it to a close. I'll still be able to turn your beautiful trees into usable timber as the mill will be set up static at my site, you can either bring the trees to me or if you're within 30 miles of NG22 I'll collect them, then return the timber once milled, T&C's apply.

In addition I'm returning to my roots, having served a 4yr apprenticeship with 2yrs in college to gain my C&G as a furniture restorer and cabinet maker I now once again offer a restoration and renovation service of antique furniture and period house woodwork such as internal doors and banisters.

Hardwood Timber Merchants

I stock the largest selection in Nottinghamshire of milled timber cut from selected trees grown in Sherwood Forest and The Dukeries.

I mill for quality not quantity, care and consideration are given to grain patterns when milling each section of tree.

As an apprentice trained furniture maker I sell the type of timber I would want to buy, if I won't be happy to use it then I won't sell it.

So, when sourcing timber for your next project why not check out our Hardwood Timber here

Tree Milling

My bandsaw mill is capable of milling logs up to 1m in diameter x 4.8m long with a maximum cutting width of 80cm.

Please Note: As of 01/06/2024

Due to circumstances beyond my control I will no longer offer an on-site milling service.

Tree milling service will still be available but the trees will have to come to me either by your own means or if you're

within a 30 mile radius of my site at NG22 and have the facility to load your tree than I may be able to arrange transport.

All things come to an end and time and health wait for no one.

Thank you for your custom over the past 18yrs.

Mission Statement

Trees are the lungs of planet Earth.

During photosynthesis, trees take H2O from the ground and combine it with

CO2 (greenhouse gases) absorbed from the atmosphere.

Through this process life-giving oxygen is released into the atmosphere

and the harmful carbon is stored as wood fibre.

When wood is burnt the stored carbon is released back into the atmosphere.

Through our milling process of turning felled trees and reclaimed wood into

useful timber & lumber the harmful carbon remains locked in and we help

to reduce the impact that greenhouse gases have on the environment.
